The racing gene runs deep in the Beregszaszy family dating back three generations. Paul’s grandfather Leo Beregszaszy, born in Yugoslavia in 1911, began his career at a young age as an auto mechanic. His skills and natural passion for racing quickly lead him to building and designing Alfa Romeo Formula 1 cars in Brazil. He went on to become a crew chief and raced against legendary drivers such as Juan Manuel Fangio. Leo married in 1937 and had a son Helmar in 1945.

Helmar growing up around the sights and sounds of racing, naturally, took a passion to the sport and began working on Formula 1 cars at a young age himself. But with his sights set on the American dream of developing and owning his own business, his energy turned towards being an entrepreneur. Helmar moved to America in 1967. He and his wife Kaarina started his successful aerospace and medical manufacturing company in Phoenix, AZ. His company became one of the top and most respected manufacturers in the industry. Helmar also ambitiously went on to acquire real estate all throughout the Western United States- even owning a prestigious vineyard in Sonoma, CA. Helmar’s passion for racing never ceased. In 1975 Helmar’s son Paul was born, and he quickly caught the Beregszaszy passion for racing.

When Paul turned 9 he started competing. Paul spent the next 7 years karting, taking home many IKF National Championships. In his late teens he moved into the Russell Racing series. He not only won his very first race but won 4 other races and finished in the top 3 seven other times. He then had a highly successful run in sprint cars. Paul has courage and skills rarely seen in someone so young, which landed him positions such as starting pole position in a USAC main event, finishing 5th and 12th in points and runner-up rookie of the year - just to name a few. Paul spent the next few years driving for the Factory Pro Star Mazda Team, and quickly became one of the top five contenders every weekend! People who watched him race still remember him to this day! Paul was getting attention that attracted an invitation to race the Porsche Super Cup series in Germany and Austria with the Erhet Super Cup Racing team.

It was at this point Paul decided to take some time off and give his own entrepreneur and marketing skills a try. After spending the last few years owning and running his own exotic car dealership, Paul decided to get back to racing full time. He is taking on stock cars and headed straight for NASCAR. It seems stock cars are the perfect fit Paul has been waiting for. With 17 years experience in racing and 3 generations of history behind him, everyone is anticipating this astounding up-and-comer who has the charm and personality to match! Paul is in the unique driver position of having business, marketing and public relation skills. He is also one of the yet untapped most talented rookie drivers that will be competing in NASCAR for 2006.
